Learn to Dive in 2025

Looking to Learn to Dive in 2025?
We organise beginner Scuba Diving Courses every day. You can choose from our 3 hour try dive lessons or even better if you wish to get a qualification go ahead and sign up to join our 2 or 3 day PADI Scuba Diver Courses.
Malta is the perfect location to Learn to Dive; warm water, no currents, great visibility and our many sheltered calm bays means all your diver training is conducted directly in the sea, rather than in a swimming pool!
At Maltaqua like to keep all our Learn to Dive classes small to ensure you get the best tuition possible. Our Maltaqua Small Group Guarantee covers all our Learn to Dive Courses, with a student to Instructor ratio of just "2 students to One Instructor" for all our try dive lessons for first time divers. On our PADI Learn to Dive certification courses the ratio is One Instructor to 3 students, so even if you are booking as a family or group of 4 or 5 we will still provide you with 2 private Instructors.
Unsure which Learn to dive course to choose?
In this case we suggest you start by booking one of our Try dive lesson which provide a fun afternoon and a great introduction into the sport of diving.  These dive lessons are organised every afternoon excluding Sundays.
If you enjoy your lesson (which we are certain you will)  you can go straight on and sign up for our PADI certification course, which will provide you with to an internationally recognised Dive qualification.
Depending on how much time you have, you can enrol on our 2 day PADI Scuba Diver Course or our 3 day PADI Open water course.
All equipment is provided, as well as road transportation to the dive sites.

Below are a few of the most common questions we get asked, please email us if you need any further information.

Do I need to be a strong swimmer?
Not at all, you do need to know how to swim but you do not need to be a great swimmer.

What age can I dive?
No there is no age limit, diving is for everyone over the age of 10, as long as you are medically fit, you can Learn to Dive!

How long are the lessons?
Our Try dives lessons take around 3 hours. While for our PADI certification courses you will be with us from 08:00 to 14:30 for the duration of the course, which is 2 days for the PADI Scuba Diver 12m level and 3 days for the PADI Open Water 18m certification level.

Do you provide all the equipment?
Yes we will provide you with all the equipment you need, all you need to bring for your lessons is a swimsuit, towel and change of dry clothes.

I have prescription glasses, can I see underwater?
We have a selection of prescriptive scuba masks, which you can borrow during your course. We also have a selection of masks with prescription lenses at our dive shop, so you may even decide to purchase your own scuba mask with lenses!

Do I need to get a medical certificate to Dive?
Most people do not need medicals prior to diving. This very much depends on your medical history. We will send you a medical questioner form to fill out. This form will indicate if you need to consult with your doctor prior to starting your diver training.

Can you help with booking accommodation for us during our training?
We have a choice of apartments next to Maltaqua, making it easy to stay with us during your training. You are welcome to book any number of nights (3 night minimum stay). YES, YES! It is possible to Learn to Dive all year round on Malta.
