Join us on Malta for your Winter 2023/4 diving holidays! We will be open and organising diving all though this winter.
The only period we will be closed for staff holidays is between the 18nd December and 12th January, other than this period we will be diving every day Monday to Saturday
You are welcome to join us for just the diving, or if you prefer you can take advantage of our complete winter holiday extra value package which includes apartment accommodation.
With so many dives site to choose from, our Instructors will be able to recommend suitable sites based on your preference as well as the sea and wind conditions on the day.
We like to team divers according to their experience, so whether you are a "newbie" diver or a very experienced one, you will always be with other divers of the same level.
Single travellers or persons traveling with non divers, are welcome to buddy up with their dive guide.
The diving conditions on Malta during our winter period, are good! The visibility can still be up to 20 -25meters on most days. The sea temperature will be 20C up to December falling to 17C by end of January.
We recommend a good wet suit, a 7mm or a 5mm semi dry suit, or if you have a dry suit than this is a good option. If you need to rent, we have warm 7mm Fourth Element wet suits!
As regards Covid restrictions, diving itself is not affected. The only restrictions imposed on us is the need to wear face protection while at the centre, and also while outside. Extra sanitation measures for rental gear is also in place, so if you are looking to rent then rest assured the equipment we provide you with will have been sanitised using approved chemicals. We will allocate you with your own set of equipment to use for the duration of your visit. There is also washing and storage facilities at the apartments so your gear will be kept by yourself and separate from the rest of the dive centre equipment.
Our apartments
We offer a selection of apartments as part of our dive and stay packages. All apartments at Sands have their own kitchen, providing the flexibility to prepare your own food. Bolt and Wolt also offer a fast and cheap food delivery service to our apartments from a wide selection of restaurants. If you prefer to eat out, there are a number of restaurants and cafe's serving food until late.
Our apartments are thoroughly cleaned between stays while common areas such as hallways, landings and the lift are cleaned daily.
All apartment have TV's and free WIFI.
A typical dive day will see you met your Instructor at Maltaqua for 08:15, load tanks and discuss and decide on the dive location for the day.
Returning at around 14:30 having completed 2 dives and allowing for a surface interval of at least 1 hour between your dives.
Once back you will be dropped of at the apartments to wash your kit, leaving you with time, late afternoon for some site seeing or just relaxing!
There is a bus stop just 50meters from the apartments with direct services to Valletta, Mdina, Rabat, Sliema as well heading north to the sandy beaches of Golden Sands or Ghadira.
